Solve for t. −4t ≤ 48

OpenStudy (welshfella):

This solution of this one will illustrate the main difference between solving inequalities and solving equations. When you divide by a negative in an equality you FLIP the inequality sign

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so to solve -4t = 48 Divide by -1:- we have t = 48/-4 = -12 but for the inequality -4t <= 48 the answer is NOT t <= -12 BUT t >= 12

OpenStudy (welshfella):

* divide by -4

OpenStudy (welshfella):

follow?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

correct is t >= -12 the inequality sign is flipped.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

this only happens when you divide by a negative number.

OpenStudy (jamaljunior):

sorry i had to do a chore but thank you again :D
