OpenStudy (brooklynriojas1):

records kept by a dietician at a cafeteria show the following weekly consumption of milk (in gallons). milk in gallons 200, 205, 210, 215, 220, 225, 230, 235, 240 number of weeks 3, 4, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1 find the average number of gallons of milk consumed per week.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

average = total volume consumed / number of weeks so add up the first list add up the second then divide

OpenStudy (brooklynriojas1):

i did that already, it was wrong.

OpenStudy (brooklynriojas1):

i found that you have to multiply the number of gallons times the number of weeks and add the products up, then divide by the total number of weeks to get an answer of 216.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Oh I see I misread the question. The first numbers are the weekly consumptions

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yea its 6480 / 30 = 216
