I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one, I mean say you were running your own little town. Your town was so small that you were Mayor and the local I don't know...blacksmith? (because mayors were guys in that time...) What if a newcomer came and was a better blacksmith than you? Most likely the people would go to him, would you not be prejudiced against him? Racist even? (Racism was a big thing back then I believe.)

I think different/better go hand in hand here...same could be said that what if a newcomer came to your town that could do something you couldn't...same idea.
