Quick Question. Will fan and medal!

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

the zero of the linear function s is 3. The graph of this function intersects the vertical axis at s(x)=-2. Find an equation for S(x)

OpenStudy (danjs):

They give you two points on this line. A zero of the function is where it intersects the X axis, here y=0. so X=3 when y=0 (3 , 0) Intersects vertical axis, here the X coordinate value is zero. It intersects the y axis at y=-2 and x=0 (0 , -2) You can put together a line function from 2 points using the point slope equation y - y1 = m*(x-x1) using point(3,0) and slope 2/3 y - 0 = (2/3)*( x - 3) y = (2/3)*x - 2 That is it y = S(x) = (2/3)*x - 2
