What effect did the introduction of smallpox have in the Americas?
um what do nee to know like are there answers or do u need an explanation
Smallpox was unknown in the Americas before European contact. I follows The disease was identified in Egypt, India, and China some 3000 years ago. It spreads very easily and can be transmitted in the course of trade or other interaction. It devasted large parts of China and Japan at times but didn't become established in Europe until the Crusades. It came along with the Spanish to the Aztecs and Incas and weakened each groups power to resist them. In North America, trade with Indian groups began in the late 1500s with many European explorers. European settlements also brought the disease. In some areas, 80 to 90% of native-born people died from smallpox. This is true of Indian as well as colonial children.
