A bulldozer is rented at $800 per day plus a charge per hour of use. The bulldozer was used for 5 hours on a day, and the total charge was $3000. Which equation can be used to find the charge x, in dollars, per hour of use? (1 point) 800 + 5x = 3000 800x + 5 = 3000 800x + 5x = 3000 800 + 5 = 3000x

@GracyGirl @ganeshie8 @Nnesha @michaelschmidt @Awolflover1

OpenStudy (xxdannysonxx):

Is it the 1st or 2nd answer? Explain.

OpenStudy (gracygirl):

It would be the first. 800 + 5x = 3000 800 represents the base cost per day. 5x = 5 is the total hours used that day, and x is the charge per hour of use (which they don't tell us the total charge) make sense?

OpenStudy (xxdannysonxx):

Ok ty, can u help me with one more question, Your my fav "openstudier" and I trust your answers.

OpenStudy (gracygirl):

Of course :)

OpenStudy (xxdannysonxx):

Yay, ok here it is:

OpenStudy (xxdannysonxx):

A barrel had 20 liters of water. Water leaked out from the barrel at a constant rate. After 24 hours, 14 liters of water was left in the tank. How many liters of water leaked out per hour? (1 point) 0.25 0.50 1.42 3.14

OpenStudy (gracygirl):

One second

OpenStudy (xxdannysonxx):

ok, take ur time :D

OpenStudy (gracygirl):

Ok, I'm sure there is probably another way to find the answer, but this is how I found it. The answer is going to be 0.25. I took .25 and multiplied it by 24 (because it happened over a period of 24 hours) \[.25 \times 24 = 6\] (the barrel lost 6 gallons of water)

OpenStudy (gracygirl):

Make sense?

OpenStudy (gracygirl):

I could have done the same thing with any of the answers, but I just happened to start with .25.

OpenStudy (xxdannysonxx):

Yep, tysm :) Your a huge help Gracy!

OpenStudy (gracygirl):

Anytime :)
