Please Help! Will Give Medal! The back to back steam and leaf plot below shows exams scores from two different math classes. What is the mode and mean for class A and the range and median for class B? Class A Class B 125678 4 12 2349 5 9 1148 6 249 1 7 15788 25 8 0344667 0 9 225
A. mode class A = 1 mean class A = 59.4 range class B = 50 median class B = 77 B. mode class A = 61 mean class A = 59.4 range class B = 54 median class B = 78 C. mode class A = 59 mean class A = 56.5 range class B = 54 median class B = 90 D. mode class A = 1 mean class A = 56.5 range class B = 52 median class B = 80
In a stem and leaf plot, the stem is the start of a number and the leaf is the ones digit. So if the stem is 4 where the leaf is two that data point is 42. The mode is the most commonly occurring number in a data set, the mean is the calculated average, the median is the value in the middle of a sorted set and the range is the distance from the smallest to the largest number. If you know how to calculate one or two of those things you can eliminate the other answers in multiple choice. Range and mode are particularly easy to figure out.
