OpenStudy (18jonea):

A boat is traveling at 17 m/sec downstream relative to the river. If the river is carrying the boat at 6 m/s relative to the shore, what is the velocity of the boat relative to the shore? 11 m/sec 23 m/sec 102 m/sec 2.8 m/sec

OpenStudy (18jonea):

@jabez177

OpenStudy (javyb13):

do you know the formula for velocity?

OpenStudy (18jonea):

yeah but that doesnt help with this

OpenStudy (javyb13):

it does because velocity is divide the distance by the time it takes to travel that same distance,

OpenStudy (javyb13):

if you divide 17 by 6 you get 2.8333 or round it to get 2.8

OpenStudy (18jonea):

so thats the answer?

OpenStudy (javyb13):

yep

OpenStudy (18jonea):

There is no time given @javyb13

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

23

OpenStudy (javyb13):

how did you get that? the boat is traveling 6 meters per second

OpenStudy (18jonea):

how @IrishBoy123

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

17+6 draw it

OpenStudy (18jonea):

draw what

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

the river, the boat, the shore

OpenStudy (javyb13):

why would you add?

OpenStudy (18jonea):

bo adding is right .

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

cool idea question might be wrong maybe you need to subtract them!!

OpenStudy (18jonea):

Thanks @irishboy you were correct

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

so it's a)

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

lol!!

OpenStudy (18jonea):

your first answer was right (b) can you help me with 2 more?

OpenStudy (18jonea):

@IrishBoy123

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

new thread :-))

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

yes?

OpenStudy (18jonea):
