OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

What happens in diffusion?????

tigerlover (tigerlover):

Diffusion is a process that occurs when a substance such as water, molecules, and ions, which are usually needed for various cellular processes, enter and leave cells. The way that cell diffusion happens is by molecules moving from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. I hope this helps! :)

OpenStudy (liziekay):

The movement of atoms or molecules from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Atoms and small molecules can move across a cell membrane by diffusion.

OpenStudy (whynotstudyalone):

SO does it make it so that each side is equal?

tigerlover (tigerlover):

I think so. It should. :)

OpenStudy (saksh1998):

Yes the main purpose of diffusion is to attain equilibrium about both the sides of the semipermeable membrane across which it is occurring and stops once the equilibrium is attained.
