Help Will Medal!!!!

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

The number line shows the distance in meters of two divers, A and B, from a shipwreck located at point X:

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

Write an expression using subtraction to find the distance between the two divers. (5 points) Show your work and solve for the distance using additive inverses. (5 points)

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

@Will.H @Kevin

OpenStudy (kevin):

Write an expression using subtraction to find the distance between the two divers. (5 points) B - A = 1.5 - (-2.5) =..... Show your work and solve for the distance using additive inverses. (5 points) Idk how is it, maybe @Will.H can help :D

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

XD ok ty

OpenStudy (kevin):

you know.. language problem.. Idk what is 'additive inverses' :/

OpenStudy (will.h):

additive inverse of a number a is the number that, when added to a, yields zero

OpenStudy (will.h):

i always hated it

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

same

OpenStudy (kevin):

hmm... still don't understand xD

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

Same here :P

OpenStudy (will.h):

such that 5+-5 = 0 that's the property

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

So...

OpenStudy (will.h):

Right so it would be 2.5 + -2.5 = 0 1.5+ - 1.5= 0 2.5 + 1.5 = 4!

OpenStudy (will.h):

don't ask more of these because i really hate it lol

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

ok back to question

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

Can you help me get explanation?

OpenStudy (will.h):

yes

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

ok

OpenStudy (will.h):

1st we will have to get each number to reach the zero value and then add the numbers together to get the total distance 2.5 + -2.5 = 0 <-- Additive inverse 1.5+ - 1.5= 0 <-- Additive inverse 1.5+ 2.5 = 4 total distance from -2.5 to 1.5

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

ok ty

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

Don't you love Additive inverse? :D

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):

<3

OpenStudy (danieldjpon3):
