jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

For #10, you would graph the equation `y = x` Then you would shift everything 3 units down to get `y = x-3` as you can probably guess, for problem #11, you would start with the graph of `y = x` and then shift everything up 4.5 units to get `y = x+4.5` a similar situation applies to #12

OpenStudy (marcoreus11):

thats it?

OpenStudy (marcoreus11):

why does it say graph the function by translating the parent function? @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

because you'd start off with the parent function `y = x` aka `f(x) = x`

OpenStudy (marcoreus11):

is this how u would graph it?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes that's the graph of y = x-3

OpenStudy (marcoreus11):

oh okay thank you so much

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no problem
