OpenStudy (nerdgirl24):

Hey guys! I read that National Merit Commended Scholars are in the top 3-4 percent. I took the first new PSAT in tenth grade last year {2015}. My grade was in th 98th percentile. However, I was not named CS. They said that the new PSAT qualified 10th grades for the NMSC as well, so kind of confused. Any help? Thanks!

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

You need to take the PSAT in your 11th grade to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Also, great scores, I'm sure you'll do fine next year when you take it! Also 11th grade is the year you'll have to take the ACT/SAT if you're going to apply to colleges. The latest you can take it is October your senior year. Personally, I found the ACT easier. Best of luck!
