Help with percents please!

OpenStudy (dragonemperor):

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Here is what I would do first.

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Change all of your percents into decimals. This makes it easier to multiply when the times comes

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Homework = 0.1 Quizzes = 0.15 Tests = 0.35 Project = 0.40

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Now lets see what her results were from her quarter: Homework: 98 Quiz: 96 Test: 82 Project: 76

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Now lets multiply the percent decimals with the actual grades. MAKE SURE you keep homework decimal and homework grade together, and so forth

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Homework: (0.1)*(98) Quiz: (0.15)*(96) Test: (0.35)*(82) Project: (0.40)*(76)

OpenStudy (dragonemperor):

0.1 * 98 = 9.8 0.15 * 96 = 14.4 0.35 * 82 = 28.7 0.40 * 76 = 30.4

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Now we get the following numbers: Homework: 9.8 Quiz: 14.4 Test: 28.7 Project: 30.4

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Now add up all those numbers: 9.8 + 14.4 + 28.7 + 30.4 = 83.3

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

83.3 is her quarterly average.

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Does this help you to understand?

OpenStudy (dragonemperor):

yes thank you!

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

I didn't see you had answered me before the percentages. Very good!

OpenStudy (dragonemperor):

Well I was in a bit of a hurry but thanks to you I can do the next question!

OpenStudy (andrewishere):

Awesome! Keep on going
