Explain why the root hair cell cannot carry out active transport as efficiently in a water logged soil than a moist soil

In waterlogged soil, the concentration of oxygen is lower than that in moist soil, as active transport is a process that required energy, low oxygen content lowered the rate of respiration in the root hair cell hence activve transport in these cells cannot be carried out efficiently

Due to inadequate oxygen supply ATP is not able to form efficiently in Electron Transport Chain inside the mitochondria as oxygen molecule is the one that pulls electrons carried by NADH and FADH2 molecules from Glycolysis and Citric Acid Cycle through the proteins present in the inner membrane of mitochondria creating a proton gradient which in turn using ATP synthase protein makes ATP.
