Before you had fg(x) which means the product of function f(x) and g(x). Here the little open circle between g and f means the composition of the functions, not the product of the functions.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

To do the composition of functions, write out the first function as it is. Then everywhere you see x, substitute x with the other function.

OpenStudy (18jonea):

wait im so confused

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Is this confusing to you? "To do the composition of functions, write out the first function as it is."

OpenStudy (18jonea):

so f(x)=5 square root x
