Need help with Algebra question. Compare the two numbers. Use < or >. Square root of -60 and -8.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

square and square roots are opposites like addition and subtraction or like multiplication and division

OpenStudy (triciaal):

when you square a negative the result is positive and when you square a positive the result is also positive. to express this differently, when you take a square root you always have 2 results the positive and the negative value.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

did you copy the question correctly? we don't normally take the square root of a negative unless working with complex numbers. did you mean to compare the negative square root of 60 with -8?

OpenStudy (sshayer):

square root of -60 is an imaginary number
