\[-\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }\div -\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }\] right?

OpenStudy (jerry45):

umm... leme think

OpenStudy (jerry45):

i think so...

OpenStudy (itz_sid):

Okay well, a number over another number is a fraction. which is divided by a number over another number. So basically you are dividing a fraction by another fraction. Do you get it so far?

OpenStudy (jerry45):

yes i do thx

OpenStudy (itz_sid):

Okay so what i have posted it correct. Now when dividing two separate fractions, you need to change the sign by taking the reciprocal.

OpenStudy (itz_sid):

Do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (will.h):

The answer will be positive clearly so you may eliminate B and C Any thoughts what the correct answer might be?

OpenStudy (will.h):

Did you know that instead of dividing this all fractions you can simply turn the operation into multiplying! How? Flip the second fraction and change the division into multiply So therefore wr have -5/8 * -4/3 = multiply the numerators together and the denominators together we would get -5 * -4 = 20 8* 3 = 24 So it would be 20/24 Hope that helps

OpenStudy (jerry45):

yea thx
