The '106 and 107' is actually '10^7 and 10^6.' 

What I did:

9.98 - 7.3 and 6 - 7. I got 2.68 x 10^-1.

the freight train has a mass of 9,8 ×10^6
and the aircraft carrier has a mass of 7,3×10^7 what is 73×10^6 

and now just subtract from 73 the 9,8 and will get the right answer
