What was the Thirty Years War and how did it change the way people viewed different religions?

The Thirty Years War was a very memorable war in European history. It was a religious battle between the Protestants and the Catholics that soon escalated into a political battle as well due to religious leaders wanting to make certain European areas dominanted by their religion. The war was gruesome and the casualties were very high. When it comes to how it changed people's minds on different religions I'm a bit fuzzy. I'm sure that there were still some people who felt bitter towards different religions than their own but I'm also sure there were people who were horrified by the causalties caused by this war who questioned religion and questioned if fighting for religion was right or not.
