thank you A zookeeper weighed an African elephant to be 9 × 103 pounds and an African lion to be 4 × 102 pounds. How many times greater is the weight of the elephant than the weight of the lion?
i dont get this
ok first multiply 4 x 102
then multiply 9 x 103
ok
9*103=927 4*102=408 927-408=519
then subtract the elephant weight minus the lions weight
What you will get 408 pounds for the lion and 927 pounds for the elephant.

@cubanita2002: What have YOU done so far towards finding the correct answer? This is not about answers so much as it is about learning how to solve problems on your own. What do you need to know to solve this problem?

You need to find the difference between two quantities with the same unit of measurement. Finding the difference means subtraction. Set up this subtraction and then think of how you would carry it out.
