NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

sin, cos or tan?

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

Do I use Sin, Cos or Tan for this question? @mathmale @mathstudent55 @mathmate

OpenStudy (kenrick143):

Tan

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

So the answer is 12.9?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

what you have to figure out is the orientation of the sides marked a and 12 relative to the given angle. a = opposite side 12 = adjacent tan = opposite / adjacent

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

okay, thanks welshfella!

OpenStudy (welshfella):

@kenrick143 - please dont give direct answers without explanation Read Code of Conduct for this site.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

12.9 is correct

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@NvidiaIntely To help in the future, when the hypotenuse is NOT involved in the ratio of the two sides, tangent should be used.

NvidiaIntely (nvidiaintely):

Thanks!
