OpenStudy (angelmarie):

What is the lower quartile of the following set? 28, 45, 12, 34, 36, 45, 19, 20

alones (alones):

Hrmm list them from least to greatest, than find the median

alones (alones):

@angelmarie can you do that?

alones (alones):

Anyways so we list them out 12, 19, 20, 28, 34, 36, 45, 45

OpenStudy (angelmarie):

The median would be between 28 and 34?

alones (alones):

Since the median is at 31, we split the data from between 28 and 34

alones (alones):

Now we can see that our first set of data we have from the split would be 12, 19, 20, 28 and the lower quartile, or first quartile, would be the median of that set

alones (alones):

Median of this is \(\ 19.5\), making the lower quartile \(\ 19.5\)
