Could be a very big question. If solid state is related to "condensed matter" then you've got GRAPHENE - allotrope of carbon, you've got different sorts of magnetism - dia, para, ferro, anti ferro, ferri. You've also got DOMAINS within ferro at least. Graphene is important because, I believe, of its strength. Other than that there's prob a lot more I don't know about.
