Solve for x (drawing in the comments) (trigonometry)
|dw:1475069359307:dw| I understand that we should divide the triangle into two (actually, I think that we should draw more to a triangle to make one of the angles 90 degrees and to maintain one of the legs to be 9). I am very new to trigonometry, so please explain each step :) (@ganeshie8 maybe you are up for some trig?)
hmm, try adding up 50 and 38.
And because traingles are 180 degrees total have to do 180 minus the total you calculate to find X.
Tool Given You can find Interior angles sum to 180° Any two interior angles The third angle Pythagoras' Theorem Two sides of a right triangle The third side If you are familiar with trigonometry, the following tools can be used with any triangle: Tool Given You can find Law of Cosines Two sides and the angle between them The third side Law of Sines One side and its opposite angle, and one other item Everything else Again, if you are familiar with trigonometry, the following tools can be used with right triangles: Tool Usage Sine These trigonometry functions relate an angle and two other sides. If you know two of the three, you can find the other. It is beyond the scope of the this volume on Geometry to define them here. See the Trigonometry Overview for a brief description. Cosine Tangent
@michaelbp I understand that, but the triangle doesn't have one angle as 90 degrees... trigonometric functions doesn't work otherwise.
you do 50+38 which = 88 then you do 180-88 which is 92...other than that idk
Law of sines and cosines works for every triangle. Not just right-triangles.

Figured it out by myself. I don't get how sinuses and cosinuses could work without a right triangle...
