What is another way you could solve this equation?

OpenStudy (weaver):

3x + 12 = 8x - 18 | Given 12 = 5x - 18 | Subtraction Property of Equality 30 = 5x | Subtraction Property of Equality 6 = x | Division Property of Equality x = 6

I'm just learning this myself and I'm not sure what the answer is. Sorry.

OpenStudy (weaver):

@kevin

OpenStudy (brooke..help00):

I think you could subtract 12 from both sides. Divede the variable on both sides and that could work.

OpenStudy (will.h):

3x + 12 = 8x - 18 Subtract 12 frim both sides and subtract 8x from both sides 3x -8x = -18 -12 -5x = -30 Divide both sides by -5 X= 6

OpenStudy (will.h):

That's the alternate way

OpenStudy (kevin):

I agree with Will :)
