What is the control in this lab?

What happens to the substance in the potato that interacts with the hydrogen peroxide when these two substances are mixed?

Answer 1

Part 1
Place one potato in one beaker
Use the popsicle stick to gently mash/chop the potato into smaller pieces
Pour 10ml of hydrogen peroxide on the potato
Observe the results
Empty the beaker into the trash
Part 2
Pour 10ml into 2 separate beakers
Use the popsicle stick to stick it in the potato
Lower the potato into 1 beaker of hydrogen peroxide
Observe the results. It will foam
Remove the potato from beaker 1 and place it into beaker 2
Observe the results. It will still bubble, because the potato was not “used up”, but rather, the hydrogen is being separated into ions from the enzymes in the potato.

Do you need to make an additional control or exactly what are you suppose to answer? (I just want to avoid giving the wrong answer)

My goal is it to just find the control. I was able to find the dependent variable (hydrogen peroxide), independent variable (potato), and controls (hydrogen peroxide, potatoes, beaker, etc), but I just need to find the control. I'm not adding anything, just finding.

The thing is, I know the control is the thing that you "base" your info off of, or the thing that gets no special treatment, but I'm having difficulties finding it. I think it is the hydrogen peroxide, but I'm not sure. :/

i feel like the second potatoe thats not mashed is the control lol
