OpenStudy (acabral058):

HELP Solve the system using any method 1/3c+1/2d=5 c-2/3d=-1 the answer is (51/13,96/13) how do they get that? I am using elimination for this method.

OpenStudy (1davey29):

Solve the second formula for c and use substitution. It's a lot easier than elimination in this case.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

\[\large\rm \frac13c+\frac12d=5\]Elimination is a good strategy, I would recommend getting rid of the fractions by multiplying both sides by the `least common multiple` of the denominator values. Multiplying both sides by 3 and 2 gives us,\[\large\rm 2c+3d=30\]
