Ok, so if the product of 2 and a number x equals 3/4s, we have to translate this fro English to algebra :) 2x because "product" means multiplication \[2x=\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }\]

OpenStudy (brainzonly):

Golden rule of algebra: do it to 1 side, to it to the other. To get x all by itself, we have to divide 2 from it because 2 is currently multiplying x. \[\frac{ 2x }{ 2 }=\frac{ 3 }{ 4 } /2\] How do you divide 3/4ths by 2??? Not to worry, just turn 2 into a fraction and invert: 2= 2/1 invert 1/2 3/4*1/2 =3/8 x=3/8 which is choice D.
