Find the derivative of the following function f(x)=(4x^3+3x^2)/x I just need help to put this function into a form where I can find the derivative. How do I get the x on the bottom to the top?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

To eliminate the x at the bottom, simply divide each of the terms at the top by x.

OpenStudy (katangels_96):

Okay so would it be 4x^2+3x ?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Yes, you are correct. Now differentiate.

OpenStudy (katangels_96):

Okay, so after it would be 8x+3 ?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Yes, you have found f'(x). Good work!

OpenStudy (katangels_96):

Thanks !!

OpenStudy (kropot72):

You're welcome :)
