Well, What I think is that... Not only Mental Illness, but also social/economic stability of a person may take a toll, but it still will not sever the bonds that connect people. Such as how even as a homeless man, who has nothing and lives off of rummaging through other peoples garbage, still has the heart to remember his sisters birthday. Usually people would be so dissolved in their own problems, that they do not take the time, nor even care to think about others. But bonds do not break so easily, especially family bonds.
