A misplaced modifier is a describing phrase that describes the wrong object. A phrase usually describes the object that's right before it. In (C), the phrase 'so some years they did not go' were describing the object before it, which is the TICKETS, but practically, it was supposed to describe the PEOPLE. This is a misplaced modifier.
