What's your definition of a long tone? That's like asking for the length of a piece of string.

Long tone as in a simple strum and letting it ring out till it stops? Long tone as in specifically vibrato-ing a note for as long as you can? A tied half note as in....... I can't even come up with what you possibly could mean on that one. @BroderKnight Some details would help us help you! :)

Long note, like a whole note? Half note? Please be a bit more specific. I'll assume you're talking about a whole note with a tied half note, in a 4/4 time signature, you would essentially hold out that note for 6 beats.
