OpenStudy (itz_sid):

Can someone show me how to find the Height and Radius, when solving for Shells/Discs/Washers? I always seem to get mixed up when doing those.

OpenStudy (callie_love_me):

Radius is the middle to edge. Height is bottom to top.

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Draw a clear diagram is the first thing you need to find them.

OpenStudy (mhchen):

The radius is simply the distance from the edge of the cylinder to the middle, since the base is a circle. The height is obviously the distance from the bottom to the top. You know the formulas for them as well right.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

|dw:1475365001516:dw|the radial length is the distance between your slice and the axis of rotation (for the shells method). So then the height is the other dimension.
