I am a bit lost at the beginning of your solution. I think it's because of notation.

Are you saying there is relative acceleration if we look at AC? I know there is relative velocity at AC. If we are at A looking at C, C appears to translate.

I solved it, but as I turned it in I remembered that I forgot to include the a_rel term. =/
