SOMETHING BIGGER

All the buzz ignited by the lights,
Camera's focused to the jawbone -

Skin perfect coverage
on a frightening race

Everything to cover
America's ugly face.

Whatever called corruption
presidential
Is whoever made every drama
essential
And we call it history in the books.

The dogs behind two podiums
salivating at each others throats;
A first female
all smiles over dishonesty
The other rich
in his egotistical geometry
building buildings out of insults
yet promises to rebuild a country
While she tells everyone to pay
their fair share in an unfair economy.

Ballots will be cast and polls will differ,
but I am almost certain
that every American had dreamed of something bigger.

Do I as a young girl have my political picks and my political opinions? Yes, I do.
Do I feel the need to call out a situation based upon the thesis it has been presented? Yes I do.
After a four or five days later since the first presidential debate, I felt the need to kind of point out through a poem that this 2016 election is anything but presidential. Opinions and thoughts aside, it is entirely true and to be very honest is also scary in terms of a lack for better wording.

I will also add as a sidenote, that I was hesitant to post this because I wonder what people will think.........but I realized that I cannot care and sometimes being free spirited is a little nice.
Do not start any wars on this post with political opinions or fights. If you do, I will immediately contact a mod whom I am very close friends with and see to it that you do not comment again.

I love your writing, @Atsie, and I agree with you that what's happening this year is a choice between awful and catastrophic (I'll leave you to determine which is which...) Fortunately, as a minor, I can use this opportunity to learn and wait for when it's my turn (and hope that it will be a better choice that I have to make...).

And I deeply agree with the summary of this year. It is an unfortunate time we live in, but it is also a time in which even the smallest of people can make a difference in some stage or phase of life. I'm not to far from being legal, but at least this time around I don't have to worry about anything. I can only look on with a frown.
