The chemical formula does not indicate how elements/atoms are joined. It just shows how many and of which kinds they are. There are separate structural formulas that show how they're joined together.

Basically the chemical formula shows the molar ratio of the elements in the respective compound. As @SapphireMoon stated it does not show the three dimensional shape or how these elements in the chemical are bonded together.
