I could give you the reasons we use in the UK - they are different in the states and i only know a few. I know <4 = <2 - that is they are vertical angles ( in UK we say opposite angles)

<2=<6 reason: corresponding angles <4=<2: vertically opposite angles <4=<6: alternate angles
