OpenStudy (rcp031):

How many ounces of pure water must be added to 50 oz of a 15% saline solution to make a saline solution that is 10% salt?

OpenStudy (rcp031):

How's that ?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@alivejeremy http://prnt.sc/bbibl0 10% is 2/3 of 15%. So add water to 50 mL to make it 2/3 of the total volume, i.e. 75 mL total. OR, us c1v1=c2v2. C1=15% V1=50 mL C2=10% V2=? 15%*50mL=10%*V2 mL V2=50 mL * 15/10 = 75 mL. Calculate how much water should be added.
