Both sisters deposited the same amount in the end. How much did each sister deposit each time? (a) Write an equation. Let x represent the amount of one of Sheila’s deposits. (b) Solve the equation. Show your work. (c) Check your solution. Show your work. (d) State the solution in complete sentences.
@kidrah69
x is the amount paid at each deposit 6x is the total that Sheila deposited 5(x+10) is the total amount that Sherri deposited Since they both deposited the same total amount you can write 6x=5(x+10)
THANK YOU ARE A GOD SEND!! if I solve can you check it?
@ajspeller
yes
ok so6x=5(x+10) 6x(5)(x)+(5)(10) 6x-5x+5x+50-5x=50
but I don't get how I figure out how much did each sister deposit each time
Yes, x = 50 So what was Sheila's and Sherri's total deposit?
10x10 = sherri she deposited 10 each time I don't know about sheila
Remember Sheila is 6x and x = 50 .. so its, 6(50)=300
Sherri, 5(50+10) = 5(60) = 300
wow you are truly incredible thank you so much !!
