The cartoon below was published in 1904: What does the cartoonist suggest about the construction of the Panama Canal? The United States would suffer financially as a result of constructing the canal. Construction of the canal would be impossible without help from supernatural forces. The United States did not have the right to be involved with the canal's construction. Construction was extremely dangerous and meant certain death for many laborers.
