OpenStudy (helpmewithhomework):

Find the points which define the reflection of the figure given by A(2, 2), B(5, 7), and C(8, 5) reflected across y = x.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Please do your best not to post with none of your own work showing. Do you know how to find an Inverse Function?

OpenStudy (helpmewithhomework):

No

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Too bad. That would have been useful. Can you reflect (8,0) across the line x = y? Where does it go?

OpenStudy (helpmewithhomework):

Like before? (8,-0)?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Why would a reflection across x = y be the same as a reflection across the x-axis? 1) "-0" doesn't mean anything. 2) Look at it on a set of coordinate axes and reason it out. Where does it go? No guessing.

OpenStudy (eliesaab):

Reflection about y=x, you interchange the coordinates

OpenStudy (eliesaab):

(2,2)-> (2,2)

OpenStudy (eliesaab):

(5,7)->(7,5)

OpenStudy (eliesaab):

(8,5)-> (5,8)

OpenStudy (helpmewithhomework):

Ohhhh right, I remember now, y=x you swap the two thanks
