John Brown believed deeply that slavery was morally repugnant. He, perhaps more than any white man at the time, wanted slavery to be stopped immediately. His plan to give guns to slaves was actually well planned, but like many plans throughout history, all the parts didn't come together at the same time. He was labled as crazy because no one wanted to deal with the serious issues. But in 1860, events led to the Civil War with a lot more death and destruction than Brown had planned.
