How was 42 gotten??
we needed to have common denominators
they multiplied the 1st fraction by 3 and the 2nd by 7 to get common denominators
I know 14 times 3 is 42.
after achieving common denominator they can now have an answer of the same denominator of 42 but the numerator would be 33 + 7 make sense?
I am not quite getting the 33 + 7. I know cross multiplication is involved, but I can't figure out how it's done.
14*3 is 42 and 7*6 is 42, am I using this somehow??
no it's not involved we have 33/42 + 7/42 = ? the answer would be 33/42 + 7/42 = ?/42 that was the point of common denominators.. to get the same denominator in the answer so now all we have to do it to find the value of numerator,, how? 33 + 7 = 40 so the final answer is 40/42 make sense?
But 11/14 times 3/3 is 33/42, and 1/6 times 7/7 is 7/42
And then it continues as you said
indeed
if you have a question about any step let me know i can give you a brief explanation if you need
