Will give medal! 13. An ammeter indicates the current for a toaster is 5.0 amps when the toaster is connected to 120-V circuit. How much energy is given off by the toaster in 55.0 seconds? Show all calculations leading to an answer.
@jiteshmeghwal9 That is not quite correct VI gives the POWER not the energy The energy is given by Power * Time
VIT*
tht was a typo sorry
Heat (energy) given off=VIT where v = voltage I=current
IVt=5x120x55=600x55=550x6=3300Joules=3.3KJ Bon chance, et bon appetit, et bon voyage http://perendis.webs.com
HaHa MrNood beat me to it
@osprey maybe it would be good to let the poster DO the work given that we already gave him the method? Posting the answer is not allowed by the code of conduct...
@MrNood Am I breaking a rule somewhere or other ? On one level I agree. If there were more of a dialogue with the posters, I'd be more inclined to do that. Much as when "giving a tutorial". But this is anonymous remote controlled stuff, and I'm thinking of what the poster may have already scribbled somewhere, got spelks in their fingers through head scratching and ask for help. With no background information, seems to me like the safest track is to spell it out. However, if I'm breaking a rule somewhere, please advise me further.
@osprey you haven't broken any rules, as i think you know you've just run up against one of OS' little job's-worths, and you're being tremendously diplomatic about it all. keep on adding to the Physics forum and let it work itself out.
@IrishBoy123 Thanks Shamrock. What does "OS" mean, dare I ask ? "Have you heard the one about the constipated mathematician who worked it out ... etc". If you drink Guinness, then cheers.
OS = OpenStudy It is this little community It is pretty fragile, if truth be told.
@IrishBoy123 I can go along with your line about fragility. That's a pity, but maybe people get nervous and confuse science/physics/maths with IQ tests. The 4 may be related, but I don't think they're the same thing. For my pfennig, all the questions I've ever asked are "stupid" - given that someone else knows the answer. But, it for me it's not an ego/IQ test, its more a understand it challenge. If that means spelling it out, then so be it ?
@osprey http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/57fbedf1e4b012711f0de8d4 some insight
