What is the volume of the box if it is scaled down by a factor of 1/10? volume: 264 help!!!!

OpenStudy (kevin):

scale 1 --> 264 scale 1/10 --> ?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Scale Factor: 1/2 Previous Length = 18, New Length = \(18(1/2) = 9\) Previous Area = 16, New Area = \(16(1/2)^2 = 4\) Previous Volume = 24, New Volume = \(24(1/2)^3 = 3\) In other words, scaling is linear. Don't try it the same for things that are not linear.
