@calculusxy @phi @chpatterson @sapphiremoon Your friend has $80 when he goes to the fair. He spends $4 to enter the fair and $12 on food. Rides at the fair cost $1.25 per ride. Which function can be used to determine how much money he has left over after x rides? f(x) = 1.25x + 64 f(x) = −16x + $80 f(x) = −1.25x + 64 f(x) = −1.25x − 64

OpenStudy (brooke..help00):

@phi please help

OpenStudy (phi):

one way to figure it out. if he goes on *no* rides, how much money will he have left ?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

He enters the fair with $80 and then pays for admission and food. How much $ does he have left, before going on any rides?

OpenStudy (will.h):

Hint He has 80 dollars and paid a total of 4 dollars to enter the fair and 12 dollars for food how much does he has left out of the 80 dollars?

OpenStudy (brooke..help00):

He spent $16 to get in and get food. You would subtract that from what he had to start with which was 80. Is he has $64 left.

OpenStudy (brooke..help00):

@mathmale @Will.H @phi

OpenStudy (will.h):

Indeed 64

OpenStudy (will.h):

So we also have 1.25 per ride That means 1.25x We know that it is a withdrawal for each ride so that would be negative So F(x) = -1.25x + 64 That would be the total

OpenStudy (will.h):

Make sense?

OpenStudy (brooke..help00):

Yes! Thanks so much. Everyone🙂
