Contour lines: a line on a map joining points of equal height above or below sea level. Motion lines are used to show movement. Implied line refers to the path that the viewer's eye takes as it follows shapes, colors, and forms along any given path. Straight or classic lines provide stability and structure to a composition and can be vertical, horizontal, or diagonal on a work's surface. Continuous line means that once you place your pen or pencil on the surface, do not remove it until the drawing is complete. Your goal is to describe the subject with one, singular line. It can become thicker and thinner in areas, but it should never break. Arabic, Chinese, Persian.
