Do you know which angles are equal to each other?

563blackghost (563blackghost):

When two angles lie on the same straight line then they are supplementary angles in which they both add up to a total degree of 180. So `5y` and the blank angle which we will name `y` equal to a total degree of 180 so we find y out of that equation... \(\huge\bf{5y+y=180}\) What does` y` equal?

OpenStudy (rz172):

30?

563blackghost (563blackghost):

Correct :) Now we know what y equals...so we have to angles that also lie on the same line `3x - y and 2x + y` since these two lie on the same line then they will sum up to a total of 180 degrees...Now we know of what y equals so we would input 30 as y into the two equations and find x... \(\huge\bf{(3x-30)+(2x+30)=180}\) What would `x` equal?

OpenStudy (rz172):

36?
