How would you know when a circuit is a series or a parallel especially when they appear in one circuit?

If components of a circuit are in series then there is only ONE path that the current can take and it must pass through ALL components. If components ar in parallel then the current path branches, and some current passes in one branch, and some in another. It is possible for a circuit to contain sections which are parallel AND sections that are in series
