There's no circuit diagram to see. But, in terms of series and parallel connections, for a SERIES circuit, the current in each albeit invisible bulb will the the same - DEFINITION of a series circuit. In a PARALLEL circuit, the VOLTAGES are the same across each bulb, and they each draw currents which depend on their resistances. So, on a wild blind guess, your PARALLEL bulbs should be BRIGHTER than your SERIES bulbs, for the SAME "apparent" overall voltage.
